Byron Cares This Christmas: Launch of 2025 “Adopt a Family” Hamper Appeal
Donate a $100 hamper to a local family in need and show that Byron Cares this Christmas.
The Byron Community Centre is proud to launch its much-loved “Adopt a Family” Christmas Hamper Appeal, calling on the local community to help spread festive cheer to families doing it tough this holiday season.
Running from 1 November to 12 December, the campaign invites individuals, workplaces and community groups to adopt a local family experiencing financial hardship, by preparing a festive Christmas hamper filled with gifts, vouchers and food valued at approximately $100.
Renuka Nicail, Customer Service Coordinator at Byron Community Centre, said:
“This appeal brings out the best in Byron. Every year, we see people go above and beyond to create something special for a family in need - it’s incredibly moving and truly reflects the spirit of this community.”
Families are identified in partnership with Fletcher Street Cottage, a community support hub operated by the Byron Community Centre, and Liberation Larder, a local food relief service. Hampers will be matched and distributed to families who would otherwise go without, offering both practical support and a powerful reminder that they are not alone.
Bec Robinson, Relationships Manager, added:
“The Adopt a Family Christmas Appeal is such a meaningful way for people to give back during the holidays. Each hamper is not only a gift, but a message of care, dignity and solidarity with those in our community facing tough times.”
Damian Farrell, Manager of Fletcher Street Cottage, emphasised the impact:
“Christmas can be a heartbreaking time for the local families we support. A simple hamper can bring back a sense of hope and help create a moment of joy when it’s needed most, especially for children.”
