Gelato for Breakfast? Messina and Brookfarm are Making it Happen for One Week Only
Reinventing a morning staple, Messina and Brookfarm have given muesli a makeover, turning it into an any-time-of-day treat, with the launch of ‘Good Morning, Honey’, a limited-edition breakfast gelato landing in stores nationwide for one week only.
From Thursday 27 November, breakfast lovers can enjoy the honey sweet, nutty flavour of the new time-bending creation, which features big, chewy clusters of Brookfarm’s customer-favourite and award-winning Toasted Macadamia Muesli.
Expect each mouthful to mimic the best meal of the day, with creamy honey gelato made with Australian Rainforest Honey specially produced by Northern Rivers Bees. And there will be no soggy cereal moments here, thanks to the protective layer that Brookfarm’s signature churned coconut butter provides to the muesli, promising the ultimate crunch in every bite.
No matter the time of day, every element of the feel-good gelato has been crafted to hit all the marks of a great breakfast, creamy, nutty with honey sweet muesli chunks that will wake you up and fill you up.
Will Brook, CEO of Brookfarm, said:
“Whether you’re a breakfast lover, a gelato lover, or a bit of both, we’re confident people are going to fall in love with this flavour, created by two Australian gourmet food brands passionate about creating quality products. Messina has married the flavours of Brookfarm’s Toasted Macadamia Muesli and local Rainforest honey perfectly with their creamy gelato base.”
Donato Toce, Head creative chef and co-owner of Messina Gelato, said:
“This is the first time Messina has ever used muesli in a flavour and what an innovation it has been. As soon as the team tasted Brookfarm’s muesli, we knew it would make a great addition to a gelato flavour.”
The breakfast ice cream celebrates Brookfarm’s 25th anniversary.
Founded by Pam and Martin Brook back in 2000 after purchasing a rundown dairy farm in the Byron Bay hinterland, the Brook family transformed the property into a thriving macadamia orchard and regenerated subtropical rainforest. Recipes were lovingly created in the Brook family kitchen, a tradition that still continues, the business now led by second-generation son Will Brook.
Today, Brookfarm produces award-winning muesli, granola, porridge, premium nut mixes and wholefood bars, all baked locally at their Byron Bay bakehouse using premium, all-natural ingredients. Brookfarm products are available nationwide in selected independent retailers, including Harris Farm and IGA.
‘Good Morning, Honey’ will be available at all Gelato Messina stores nationwide from Thursday 27 November, for one week only or until sold out.
About Brookfarm
In 1989, owners Pam and Martin Brook, a dentist and film producer in Melbourne at the time, bought and began to transform a run-down dairy farm in the Byron Bay hinterland into a working macadamia farm. Over the last 30 years they have regenerated remnants of the Big Scrub - an ancient sub-tropical rainforest by planting over 45,000 native trees on the property, and more recently installed 14 wildlife boxes to bring back native biodiversity.
From humble beginnings at the Bangalow markets in 2000, the irresistible blend of premium muesli soon caught the attention Qantas Airlines, and Brookfarm has been the key Australian muesli supplier for Qantas Business and Qantas First Class (international and domestic) for over 17 years. Brookfarm is now considered one of Australia’s leading gourmet food producers, committed to local independent retailers and sold all around the world. Their award-winning range of macadamia muesli, granola, porridge, premium nuts mixes and wholefood bars are packed with premium all-natural ingredients and cater for gluten free, vegan, paleo and keto diets. Still baked locally in their Byron Bay bakehouse, they are renowned for regional food production of the highest quality and committed to supporting local Australian farmers in sourcing only the most premium ingredients.
As a generational Australian family business Brookfarm’s commitment to sustainability spans over 30 years. Currently they use regenerative farming practices and pest management, continue to extend rainforest corridors and monitor wildlife activity, power their office and packing house by the sun, mindfully donate imperfect products to eliminate waste and support the local community, and now lead the food industry with a recyclable soft packaging solution. Brookfarm is now led by eldest son Will, Pam has recently handed over innovation in the family kitchen to Will’s wife Jess, while Martin concentrates on regenerative agriculture in the Northern Rivers region with new farming methods, pest management, rainforest and wildlife restoration.
