Local Artists Invited to Exhibit at New Byron Spaces Gallery

In celebration of 130 Years of Community Spirit, Byron Community Centre launches new free gallery space for local creatives.

The Byron Community Centre is offering a new opportunity for local artists, with applications now open for free exhibitions in its newly created Byron Spaces Gallery.

Located in the heart of Byron Bay, this community-driven gallery is open to artists at all stages of their creative journey, from emerging talents to established names.

Developed as part of the Byron Community Centre’s 130-year anniversary celebrations, the gallery officially opened in June with its inaugural exhibition Magic Birds of Australia by local artist and Byron Markets stallholder Valentina Di Blase, of ValeVale Art. Now on display in Byron Spaces until the end of August, this solo Winter Show invites viewers to explore themes of transformation, emotion and place through vibrant, mixed-media works.

Kate Love, Communications Manager, says:

This gallery is part of our broader vision to celebrate and elevate local voices. Valentina’s exhibition is just the beginning, we’re inviting other local artists to bring their work into the space and be part of this ongoing creative story.

Artists selected for the program will be invited to exhibit for up to three months in the Byron Community Centre’s upstairs Wategos Room and foyer areas, at no cost. Each seasonal exhibition will spotlight fresh local talent, turning the space into a vibrant reflection of Byron’s creative spirit.

Carl Taylor, Byron Spaces Coordinator, says:

This is about more than just hanging art on a wall. The Byron Spaces Gallery is an invitation to the community, a place to celebrate local creativity, share stories and create meaningful connections. We’re proud to offer it free of charge to support local artists who help make Byron what it is.

While the exhibition spaces are provided free, artists are responsible for their own public liability insurance, installation and promotion. The Byron Community Centre team offers guidance and support throughout the process.

Applications are open now and reviewed on a rolling basis.
