New Mobile COVID-19 Testing Clinic in the Byron Shire

Got Symptoms? Get Tested

A new mobile COVID-19 testing clinic is on the road and will be at Ocean Shores this week from 13 – 17 July 2020.

The clinic will be based at the Ocean Shores Community Centre from 10am – 3pm and will be staffed by two nurses and a GP.

It’s a free service for people who have flu-like symptoms and it’s an additional testing centre that will travel across the Northern Rivers stopping in smaller towns where it is often not easy for people to get to hospitals or clinics.

Funded by the Australian Government, the mobile COVID testing clinic project is led by Bulgarr Ngaru Medical Aboriginal Corporation and supported by the Northern NSW Local Health District, NSW Health Pathology and North Coast Primary Health Network.

Byron Shire Mayor, Simon Richardson, said it was a timely reminder for locals and visitors who have flu-like symptoms to get tested immediately.

“I urge people visiting our region to make sure they get tested if they are not feeling well, even if they have mild symptoms, because the key to containing COVID-19 is testing and reducing community transmission,” Mayor Richardson said.

Free testing is also available seven days a week at the Byron Central Hospital from 9am – 5pm.

People getting tested at the Ocean Shores mobile clinic should book an appointment by calling 1800 856 325 or visiting hotdoc.com.au.
