What World Yoga Day is Really About

With so much talk around what World Yoga Day is, how it started and who it’s for, Byron Yoga Centre is cutting through the noise with a simple reminder: yoga is for everyone.

This 21 June, the long-running Byron Bay yoga institution is inviting the community to return to the heart of yoga - connection, compassion and community - with a week of accessible offerings designed to support wellbeing in real, practical ways.

John Ogilvie from Byron Yoga Centre, says:

“We’re not here to debate what World Yoga Day should or shouldn’t be. We just want to open our doors, share what we love, and make yoga more available to people who need it - especially right now. For we believe that yoga has the power to change the world.”

It’s not about trends or titles. It’s about presence. It’s about making yoga real and reachable, for everyone.

Ogilvie adds:

“We believe yoga shouldn’t be a luxury. It’s a valuable tool for mental clarity, physical health and community connection - something everyone should have access to.”
