Harmony Amidst Destruction
Friday 27 February 2026, 6.30pm
Byron Theatre
An explosive fusion of breaking, live music and cinematic visuals arrives at Byron Theatre this February.
Harmony Amidst Destruction is a powerful dance-theatre work created in response to the 2020 Beirut Port explosion. Performed by Lebanese brothers Roj and Ralph Kabalan, the piece moves between chaos and calm, loss and resilience, transforming personal history into a visceral, deeply human stage experience.
Blending the raw energy of street culture with live violin and evocative soundscapes, the performance explores identity, survival and rebuilding in the aftermath of devastation. Multi-instrumentalist Greta Kelly joins the brothers on violin and shah kaman (Persian spike-fiddle), weaving traditional textures with contemporary beats to create a bold, immersive sonic landscape.
The evening opens with a performance by Deltoy, an Australian hip-hop artist of Bundjalung heritage, whose work celebrates culture, connection to Country and community strength.
Supported by Arts Queensland, Harmony Amidst Destruction is a moving testament to the power of art as lifeline - and an invitation to witness beauty rising from the ashes.
Tickets available via Byron Theatre.
