Russell Hobbs British Film Festival 2025
5 November – 7 December | Palace Byron Bay & Ballina Fair Cinemas
The Russell Hobbs British Film Festival, presented by Palace, returns to Byron Bay this November with a spectacular program of new releases, documentaries, comedies and retrospectives celebrating the best of British cinema.
This year’s Centrepiece Premiere is the highly anticipated drama Anemone, starring Daniel Day-Lewis, Sean Bean and Samantha Morton in a story co-written and directed by Ronan Day-Lewis. The film explores the complex and powerful ties between fathers and sons, marking Daniel Day-Lewis’ first screen role in eight years.
Other festival highlights include:
The Dead of Winter, a chilling thriller starring Emma Thompson as a woman who intervenes in a kidnapping during a snowstorm.
Moss & Freud, a biopic exploring the unlikely friendship between Kate Moss and artist Lucian Freud, starring Ellie Bamber and Derek Jacobi.
John Cleese Packs It In, a wry behind-the-scenes documentary following the comedy legend on what could be his final European tour.
The North, a breathtaking drama following two friends on a 600-kilometre journey through the Scottish Highlands.
The festival runs 5 November to 7 December across Palace Byron Bay and Ballina Fair Cinemas, with the full program and tickets available mid-October.
