Bringing Joy to Families in Need: The Adopt a Family Christmas Appeal

By Kate Love

As the festive season approaches, the spirit of giving and compassion resonates within the Byron community. Byron Community Centre is delighted to introduce a heartwarming opportunity to extend love and support to families grappling with financial hardship through the Adopt a Family Christmas Appeal.

This inspiring initiative calls upon individuals and businesses to lend a helping hand to chosen families by curating bespoke hampers comprising quality non-perishable foods, meaningful gifts and vouchers totalling $100 in value.

Kate Love, Communications Manager at Byron Community Centre, explains:

"The Adopt a Family Christmas Appeal embodies the true essence of community spirit. It's a beautiful opportunity for each of us to make a tangible difference in the lives of families facing adversity during the holidays. Witnessing the outpouring of support and generosity from local individuals and organisations is incredibly heartening."

Families are identified through homeless hub Fletcher Street Cottage and food rescue service Liberation Larder. Here's how you can play a part in making this holiday season extra special:

Step 1: Choose a Family

From our carefully curated list, select a family you'd like to support. Each family is identified by a unique number.

Step 2: Confirm Your Adoption

Reach out to the Byron Community Centre at (02) 6685 6807 and provide the number of the family you've chosen to adopt. This step helps us update our records and ensures families aren't duplicated in the generosity of our community.

Step 3: CrEATE a FESTIVE Hamper

Put together a heartfelt hamper filled with items that will bring joy to the chosen family. Aim for a value of $100 in non-perishable foods, gifts and vouchers.

Step 4: Deliver Your GIFT

Deliver your carefully curated hamper to the Byron Community Centre reception on Wednesday 13th December. Our team will ensure your thoughtful donations reach these families in time to brighten their holiday season.
