Powerful New Local Theatre Work ‘Displace I Call Home’ to Premiere at Byron Theatre This July

A Love Letter to Life, Told from the Heart of Byron: Locally made debut production explores memory, identity and belonging through movement and story.

A powerful new theatre work premieres at Byron Theatre this July and tickets are now on sale for what promises to be an unforgettable, limited season.

Displace I Call Home opens Thursday, 3 July and runs until Sunday, 6 July. Created and performed by a local ensemble, this original production explores belonging, memory and identity through movement, music and storytelling. All grounded in the real-life experiences of the people who shaped it.

“This show has become a love letter to life,” says writer and director Bianca Sirianni, Creative Producer of the Byron Theatre Company. “It’s about healing, transformation, and the ways we find connection. Every moment has been crafted with care and lived experience—it’s raw, poetic and deeply human.”

Though the production began with a script, it evolved through a collaborative process blending conversation, improvisation and shared storytelling. Developed in ensemble workshops, the material became a richly textured performance shaped by collective insight and lived experience. The result is a work that moves with the seasons of a life - intimate, layered and resonant.

Audiences will be immersed in a theatrical world created entirely by local artists, reflecting Byron Theatre Company’s mission to foster experiential opportunities for emerging talent. Costumes and sets were developed with support from Shearwater Steiner School, while the original soundscape—featuring recordings by harpist Robby Niel and cellist Tara Lee-Byrne—was produced by SAE student Adam Livesay. This is a rare chance to experience professional-calibre regional theatre—rooted in place, shaped by shared stories, and carried by a deep commitment to creative belonging.
