Sydney Film Festival award-winning documentary Floodland is coming to Byron Bay for a special screening and community discussion exploring resilience, recovery and climate adaptation in the Northern Rivers.

Capturing the devastating 2022 Lismore floods through the eyes of the people who lived through them, the documentary moves beyond the headlines to highlight the First Nations healing practices and community-led solutions that continue to shape recovery.

Following the screening, Byron Shire Mayor Sarah Ndiaye and Maddie Braddon from Resilient Lismore will join a panel discussion exploring what community-led disaster preparedness and climate adaptation could look like for the Northern Rivers.

Produced by MOFA and distributed by Bonsai Films, Floodland is part of Documentary Australia's Climate Story Lab. The evening offers an opportunity to reflect on one of the region's defining events while supporting ongoing community resilience, with $2 from every ticket donated to Resilient Lismore.
