Stone & Wood Open Brewery

Stone & Wood Opens Its Brewery for a Hometown Celebration

Stone & Wood is throwing open the doors of its Murwillumbah brewery for a free, family-friendly afternoon celebrating local beer, music and one of the town’s most legendary tales.

The Open Brewery will mark the hometown launch of Northern Rivers Lager, alongside the limited-edition Swamp Beer Pilot Batch, inspired by the infamous day a beer truck plunged into the Tweed River and locals dived in to rescue its cargo.

The 25-year-old story will come to life through storytelling sessions with locals who were there, documentary highlights, photographs, memorabilia and a community memory wall.

There will also be live music from TV Misery, the Hayley Grace Trio, O and Shae and emerging local artist Ike, plus food from 2020 Smokehouse BBQ and Gunter’s Flammkuchen.

Visitors can go behind the scenes on guided brewery tours at 12pm, 1pm, 2pm and 3pm, meet the brewing and production teams and learn how Northern Rivers Lager is made.

Children can enjoy Malt Disney entertainment, face painting and activities, while a dunk tank will bring back memories of the great Murwillumbah beer rescue.

The event will raise funds for local charities, including Tweed palliative support service Wedgetail Retreat.
