Sunset Assembly: A Slow Groove Gathering for Dusk Drifters
On Friday 21 November, Murwillumbah welcomes Sunset Assembly — a new event concept bringing slow grooves, warm rhythms, and communal spirit to The Citadel for an evening of sound, connection, and sunset magic.
From 4:00 PM to 10:30 PM, The Citadel will transform into a sanctuary of golden light and deep listening. Inside its art deco walls, the warmth of timber and the shimmer of its polished wooden dance floor create the perfect canvas for movement, reflection, and togetherness.
The Spangled Drongo Bar will flow seamlessly between the dance floor and open-air courtyard, offering an intimate, relaxed energy as the sun sets behind Murwillumbah’s hills.
A New Concept for Sunsets
Curated for those who crave something beyond the usual night out, Sunset Assembly celebrates music without borders — a slow, soulful journey through Dub,
Downtempo, Balearic, Soul, Leftfield, Ambient, Organic House, and Global Grooves.
Guiding the journey are four selectors renowned for their depth and versatility:
XUJA (Mahico), Monsieur Diop (Bare Foot Beat), Lord Sut (Nudge Nudge Wink Wink), and Lauren Sly (Lab Leaked Beats).
“Sunset Assembly isn’t about headliners or hype, it’s about creating a shared, free-flowing space — the perfect soundtrack for slow dances, quiet smiles, and unspoken moments together. With community at the heart and a DIY spirit.” says organiser and DJ Lord Sut, founder of Byron’s iconic Nudge Nudge Wink Wink events.
