The Little Pink House and The Golden Garden

Studio 8 Currumbin Presents The Little Pink House and The Golden Garden

A vibrant new exhibition celebrating memory, identity, home and the natural world through the work of Gold Coast artists Claire Bear and Sarah Gee.

Studio 8 Currumbin is delighted to present The Little Pink House and The Golden Garden, a colourful co-exhibition by Australian artists Claire Bear and Sarah Gee, on display from 15th –21st July.

Bringing together two distinctive artistic practices, the exhibition explores themes of memory, identity and place through an engaging collection of paintings, soft sculptures, original prints and interactive works.

Inspired by their shared connection to the Gold Coast, Claire and Sarah invite audiences into imagined domestic spaces and flourishing natural landscapes that celebrate both the comfort of home and the beauty of the outdoors.

Claire Bear is a multidisciplinary visual artist whose practice spans soft sculpture, painting, drawing and original printmaking. Her playful and tactile works reimagine places associated with comfort, belonging and safety, blurring the boundaries between fiction and reality while encouraging viewers to engage directly with the artworks.

Currently artist-in-residence at Helensvale Library, Sarah Gee is a nature-inspired artist and illustrator whose vibrant layered paintings, felted sculptures and lino prints celebrate Australia’s unique flora and fauna. Drawing inspiration from the lush rainforest landscapes of Currumbin Valley and the intricate beauty of native insect species, Sarah’s work encourages visitors to reconnect with nature and reflect on the memories and emotions evoked by outdoor spaces.

Together, The Little Pink House and The Golden Garden create a joyful dialogue between interior and exterior worlds, inviting audiences to experience colour, curiosity and imagination through the complementary perspectives of two contemporary Australian artists.

This exhibition has been supported through the Arts Development Fund.

The Arts Development Fund is a City of Gold Coast initiative that supports the city’s creative community by fostering professional pathways and skills development, contributing to the Gold Coast’s vibrant cultural landscape.

The community is warmly invited to celebrate the exhibition at the official opening.
