About the Winter Art Show
Unveil a Hidden World: Magic Birds of Australia showcases the beautiful work of local artist and Byron Markets stallholder Valentina Di Blase (ValeVale Art).
By day, her paintings bring to life the vibrant detail of Australia’s native birds, from Superb Lyrebirds to Rainbow Lorikeets and Gouldian Finches. By night, using UV torches provided at the Byron Spaces Gallery, visitors can uncover hidden glowing layers and meaning within each piece.
“One day, I received Inner Self Guidance Cards and a book of Australian Birds, sparking a desire to blend these concepts. Vibrant colours have always been my passion, creating art that immerses the audience sensorially. Acrylic paints perfectly balance brightness and saturation for this purpose. I aimed to fuse each word from the cards with a corresponding Australian bird, making the bird an ambassador of that word.”
